Sheikh Meshary bin Rashid Alafasy (Arabic: الشيخ مشاري بن راشد العفاسي; born in Kuwait in 1976) is a Kuwaiti national and a qari. He is the Imam of Masjid Al-Kabir (Grand Mosque (Kuwait)) in Kuwait City, and leads the taraweeh prayers in Ramadan every year. He studies in the College of the Quran and Islamic Studies at the Islamic University of Madinah and has specialized in the ten readings and translations of the Quran. Also, he has been certified by a number of scholars of Quran. He makes frequent appearances on television. Many of his recitations can be also found on YouTube or MukminTV.

Sheikh Imam Rashid, Chief Imam and Spiritual leader of the Salawatia Muslim Mission in Ghana has predicted World War III in the week ahead if the United Nation’s fail to use diplomacy to resolve the brewing tension between North and South Korea.
According to the Salawatia Muslim Mission Spiritual leader who was one time National Chief Imam of the Ghana Armed Forces, the entire world could be plunged into chaos if the two Korean nations strike over the sinking of the South Korean ship.
Sheikh Imam Rashid made this assertion in an exclusive interview with Citi News when he was responding to a question on an earlier prediction that the world was likely to experience third World War III if care was not taken.
He condemned the United States of America for declaring its open support to South Korea and advised America to reconsider its stand point and allow the UN Secretary General Mr. Ban-Ki Moon to use diplomacy in resolving their differences.
Imam Rashid added that Russia and China could support North Korea to fight South Korea should any of the feuding nations strike.
He therefore called on religious and political leaders in the world to intensify their prayers to prevent that calamity from bedeviling the world.
It will be recalled that at the beginning of 2010 on January 3, Sheikh Imam Rashid based on the unfolding of events from the scriptures hinted that the world was going to experience numerous plane crushes, sinking of ships, oil spillage, high infant and mortality deaths among other disasters which appears to be happening.
