Definitions
§ A clause
is a group of words containing a subject and verb.
An independent clause is a simple sentence.
It can stand on its own.
She is hungry.
I am feeling well today.
Noun clause:
That he will succeed, is quite certain.
I know that I am right.
The question is how we should begin it.
Adjective clause:
A boy who is frank and honest.
The house where I was born.
Adverb clause:
When I see him, I will tell him so. 시간
He retired where he was born. 장소
Don't be proud because you are rich. 이유
He works hard that he may succeed. 목적
He studied so diligently that he succeeded at last. 결과

The more we have, the more we want.
A dependent clause cannot stand on its own. It needs an independent clause to complete a sentence.
Dependent clauses often begin with such words as although, since, if, when, and because.
Although she is hungry …
Whoever is hungry …
Because I am feeling well …

Although she is hungry, she will give him some of her food.
Whatever they decide, I will agree to.

is a group of words without a subject-verb component, used as a single part of speech.
Noun phrase
He is best friend.
To do good is to be happy.
I do not know wht to do.
Adjective phrase:
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush
He is needing help.
Adverb phrase:
He did it with the greatest ease
Verb phrase:
They laughed at me
Preposition phrase:
He set in front of his desk
