1. What is New Energy, Zero Point Energy and the Quantum Vacuum?

Welcome to The Global Shift!

My name is Lee Brain and this website was made as a final project for the Undergraduate Semester in Dialogue program at Simon Fraser University. This site is meant to be seen as a presentation, from section 1 to 4 - beginning right here. The get the full effect and explanation, you need to watch all the videos as well.

Researching alternative energy has been a passion of mine since 2004, and I’ve quickly come to realize that proposed alternative energy measures such as solar, wind, geothermal, tidal, hydrogen, nuclear, biofuels, hydroelectric, coal or ethanol may not be the most viable options for us in a rapidly escalating climate crisis. What I’ve come to learn is that the way we view the very fabric of how our Universe operates has changed drastically over the last 30 years, and recent advances in Quantum Mechanics paints us a new picture of how we can be generating clean, renewable and “infinite” energy.  Energy is all around us - every cubic centimeter of space has enough energy potential to power the Earth’s energy demands for one day! [1] We can harness this energy to safely and effectively power us in to the future (while remaining in equilibrium with the natural environment)… Just imagine!

Spend the next 40 minutes exploring a real paradigm shift in how we view ourselves, the Universe and the potential for infinite energy!

Energy is the fabric of the modern world - it powers our vehicles, our computers, our space ships, our iPods and Blackberries. Without energy, modern technology would be obsolete, and life as we know it would be drastically different. The problem is we’ve been using the energy we have unwisely and have been producing beyond our means. Our addiction to oil and coal is archaic - a source of energy over 100 years old.  In moving into the future, it is time to consider alternatives beyond what we know.  That is what I hope to do here - open your eyes to alternatives and begin to conceptualize a world with a redefined energy-human relationship.

One of the biggest problems we’re facing is the expansion of urban environments. Over half of the world’s population now lives in cities, and this ratio between urban and rural populations is becoming more and more skewed.  This is having harsh detriments to the natural environment and the quality of life of residents, as many cities are creating “slums” or unemployment. [2] Population density and land development in urban cultures are highly resource-intensive. Food production, water, building materials and energy must be transported great distances via energy-consuming means to these urban environments. [2] For example, today the United States has over 2.5 million miles of paved roads and is currently planning on spending over eighty billion dollars on new roads and ‘super highway’ infrastructure that may be useless in the future - just imagine the wasted space, natural resources and tax dollars. [2]

The New York City area went from three million people in 1900 to now over eight million people. [3]   There are  over 35,000 farms per year disappearing within the United States and only two percent of the United States population lives on the land. [2] The massive waste that urban development produces must be shipped away in big trucks and barges or incinerated which produces tons of environmental waste and CO2 to the atmosphere. [1] Here in Canada, we are following the same path as well as many developing areas of the world.

By 2050 our population is estimated to be 9 billion from our current 6.5 billion. We were at 1 billion in 1800… [2]  The majority of our global population will live in urban environments (over 50% currently do) and our resources are depleting so rapidly not even the road runner will be able to escape this one! No matter what happens, we know our oil supply will deplete sometime in the next 50 years - How old will you be? Your children? Grandchildren?. [2] Many of the proposed alternative energy technologies (solar, wind, etc.) work within a certain scientific paradigm/understanding about how the Universe operates. What I mean by this is, we’ve discovered new levels to the Universe (that recently we could measure) and they paint a different story about how we could be powering our world. This is not to say that alternative energy technologies such as solar panels are a bad thing - everything is needed at this point - but where we invest our billions of dollars into the “21st Century” should be done wisely. We have a tremendous opportunity to completely redefine our entire existence and relationship with this planet we call home - our only home for that matter.

No matter what happens, we know our oil supply will deplete sometime in the next 50 years and many of the proposed alternative energy technologies work within a certain scientific paradigm/understanding about how the Universe operates. In a broader context of understanding the universe that we live in - how much do we have to discover? Where are we really in our understanding of the Universe? I hope to spark a renewed sense of possibility to those that may feel there is ‘no hope.’

With so many reality shows, advertisements on TV and shoe fetishes, it seems our society is asleep to the magnificence of our infinite Universe and the beauty of our natural environment.   It’s time to wake up and start collaborating on a collective future that is rewarding beyond consumerism.

This project is about describing what New Energy is, specifically Zero Point Energy from the Quantum Vacuum. This website is meant to be seen as a presentation, a journey into a new understanding of how the Universe operates and how energy is created. I am not a scientist, quantum theorist or expert in the field. I am simply an independent researcher attempting to illustrate a new way we can generate energy - free, clean and abundant energy that will be an indefinite source. Sounds like science fiction, doesn’t it? Well, it’s becoming a science fact!  I hope you enjoy the journey as much as the destination.  Thanks for being a part of this exciting shift!

“New Energy” refers to any energy capturing device/theoretical devices that are not currently fully recognized by the scientific community (that is, they are rejected or still being debated). I personally don’t like the term “New Energy” because I don’t believe it distinguishes itself from “alternative energy” (i.e. solar, geothermal, wind, etc).  It’s vague and non-descriptive of the real energy potential available. For now, it’s the working name of the established New Energy Movement.  New Energy is based on advanced theories of physics, and can generally be defined within these three categories:

1. Quantum Vacuum Energy

2. Hydrogen Physics (Cold Fusion; Fission)

3. Environmental Energy - Harnessing energy from natural sources, such as spinning water to produce charged ions.

This presentation will focus on the first one, the Quantum Vacuum.

The Quantum Vacuum, in the past, has been described as the “empty space” all around us - not just on the planet, but across the entire Universe. Nickola Tesla, over 100 years ago, was the first man to identify that the Quantum Vacuum wasn’t simply empty space, but a place that had vast potential of energy. [1] As you saw in the video, the Quantum Vacuum is a place that exists even smaller then the tiniest bits of matter, such as particles within atoms - it even exists within us. Everything in the entire Universe is connected to the Vacuum - it is the fabric of everything. This is a radically different view of science.

The physics behind Zero Point Energy estimates that every cubic centimeter of space has enough energy potential to power the Earth’s energy demands for one day.

Zero Point Energy comes from standard quantum mechanics theory, which says that “quantum fluctuations” in a “space-time electromagnetic foam” of an extremely small granular size (far below the size of atoms) form a jiggling field of energy. [4] It is said that this field of energy can be tapped into as an infinite source of energy, known as Zero Point Energy. Zero Point Energy essentially means every single point around us has energy ( the Quantum Vacuum is the source, you will usually hear “free energy device” “zero point energy” or “quantum vacuum energy” - they all refer to the same thing). That being said, the physics behind it estimates that every cubic centimeter of space has enough energy potential to power the Earth’s energy demands for one day. [1]

The Quantum Vacuum is like love. It is intangible, indescribable and unpredictable. It is always there, all around us, but there are times when we feel love and other times when we don’t. Even if we don’t feel love, we always know that the potential for it is there and that someday we just might feel it again. There will always be people who will tell us love doesn’t exist or that we are not worthy of love, but understanding and accepting love comes from a higher state of consciousness. We know that no matter what, love will never go away. We know that if we open our hearts and minds to the possibility,  it can be “tapped” at any time for us to experience in abundance.

In this next section, I will outline how energy comes from the Quantum Vacuum. As you will see, all the energy around us actually comes from this Vacuum state - and that our understanding of how electricity and charges operate are still 100 years old.

Many people in the environmental movement are anti-technology.  That is a generality, I know, but the resentment towards technology is warranted. The problem about technology is that it’s only ever been used to enslave ourselves… What if we created technology that worked with nature, and to free ourselves?
